MUM serves individuals and families in crisis in the Silver Spring, Wheaton, Kensington, Takoma Park, Rockville and Aspen Hill communities, specifically residents within the following zipcodes of Montgomery County (20853, 20895, 20896, 20901, 20902, 20906, 20910, and 20912). MUM provides food assistance as well as financial assistance for eviction prevention, utility shut-off prevention/restoration and prescription medications.
In order to meet increased demand for our services, MUM needs volunteers to help clients sign up for appointments, access the food pantry and to help with data entry and other tasks. Volunteers should have good communication skills and are preferably bilingual English/Spanish speakers. Office Assistants are responsible for assisting clients with food selection from the pantry, restocking shelves in the pantry, data entry, responding to requests for assistance and other tasks dependent on the volunteers' qualifications and availability. MUM can also use volunteers to help with communications, food drives, and other tasks.
