Meet a great storyteller and earn SSL hours by supporting Takoma Park Maryland Library's upcoming author/illustrator event.
Roles to be fulfilled may include:
- Presenter: For those not afraid of the spotlight! A TPML staff member will introduce you. Then, you introduce and read the author/illustrator bio.
- Book Sale Helper: For stars of customer service! Help set up/take down tables and chairs for the book sale, line control, and interact with vendors.
- Book Signing Helper: For those who like helping people! Manage the line, provide people with a sticky note in which to write their names (or whatever they want the author/illustrator to write on their copy), and ease anyone who's anxious about meeting their favorite author/illustrator ever!
- Q&A Helper: For those who like encouraging people to speak up! Assist with the Q&A portion of the event by keeping an eye out for folks who want to ask a question and, if available, bringing a wireless mic to them.
- Floater: Swoop to the rescue wherever needed! E.g. assist with set up/take down, crowd control, etc.
Roles will be assigned before the event starts. Everyone must be available and willing to help with prep and clean up, regardless of their role.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
