Help prepare medically-tailored meals. Community Service Opportunity for Groups and Individuals at Food & Friends!

Food & Friends is the only community-based nonprofit that provides medically tailored meals and nutrition counseling to adults and children living with life-challenging illnesses in the D.C. region. As a volunteer dependent organization, our need for volunteers grows every day, especially as we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. We have group and individual volunteering opportunities to help with all stages of our food preparation, from chopping vegetables to packing groceries, and our meal delivery. For Food Preparation & Packaging, we welcome groups and individuals aged 14 or older. Groups can sign up for shifts Monday to Saturday from 9AM-12PM and Monday to Thursday from 1PM-3PM onsite at 219 Riggs Road NE, Washington, DC 20011. Volunteers can also sign up for a Meal & Grocery Delivery shift throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Drivers must be 18 and older, but there is no age limit for passengers. NOTE: As a recipient of DC government funding, Food & Friends is required to implement workplace COVID-19 vaccination and booster mandates, which means that in order to volunteer with us, we require all individuals to be fully vaccinated with at least one booster (if eligible).
