1. We welcome all students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, as well as amateur college students.
2. All music levels and genres are welcome.
UNMUTE is a National 501(c)(3) non-profit and tax-exempt organization registered under IRS and Maryland. We hold both in-person and virtual concerts for assisted living facilities and senior centers. This is our 7th year bringing warmth and music to the senior community !! As of September 6, 2025, UNMUTE has delivered over 126 in-person concerts and 173 virtual concerts, and all are contributed by amazing student musician volunteers !!
- In-Person concerts In-person concerts are planned out for the entire school year. UNMUTE encourages students living in DC/Maryland/Virginia to opt for In-person concerts. In-person concerts typically happen at least twice every month during school year.

- Virtual concerts Virtual concerts is held once every month starting from 2025, with students sending in videos of their pre-recorded performances and all videos are being compiled into a single YouTube compilation to be broadcasted by our partnering assisted living facilities. Student performers must submit their music video(s) by Thursday at noon before your pre signed-up concert.
SSL hours calculation, SSL verification form, and timeline:
- For In-Person concerts: the participant may earn up to 4 SSL hours per successful participation depending on the full attendance, student performance's duration, and the length of each concert.
- For Virtual concerts: the participant may earn up to 2 SSL hours per successful participation depending on the total number of broadcasted music performances in each concert.
- SSL Form Issuance Timeline for 2025-2026 school year:
- Volunteer Hours earned during the FIRST semester (9/1/2025-12/31/2025) will be awarded by 1/5/2026 via email.
- Volunteer Hours earned during the SECOND semester (1/1/2026-5/24/2026) will be awarded by 5/25/2026 via email.
- Volunteer Hours earned during the SUMMER of 2026 (5/25/2026-8/30/2026) will be awarded by 9/5/2026 via email.
