Rukundo International has collected thousands of pairs of shoes through our annual shoe drive, which runs each year October 1-15th. Donated shoes make an impact in 3 important ways: they are kept out of landfills, they provide opportunities for vulnerable families to start small businesses in developing countries, and they support our educational programs in Uganda.
On Saturday, November 4th from 9AM to 12PM, we need volunteers to help us pack the shoes collected by rubberbanding or tieing the pairs together, and placing them in special bags. The shoe sorting takes place outdoors and the shoes are in various conditions (ie they are used and can be dirty), so please be sure to dress accordingly. Restroom use is also limited, as we are sorting from a storage shed.
RI will provide gloves and hand sanitizer for sorting and bagging shoes. SSL hours can be provided for school-age volunteers.
If you have any additional questions, please email info@rukundointernational.org. If you have shoes to donate (any shoe, any size, any condition), feel free to bring them with you. We look forward to meeting you!
