The Reading Express opens the door for imagination and endless possibilities. Make a video of a children's book. Show the book, page by page, as you read it for a child. Please check with the Chief Intern for pre-approval of the book. These videos, upon approval, will be placed on a playlist that will be sent through QR codes on Tacy Foundation business card gifts to Children's National Hospital patients, Fisher Houses nationwide, and to Red Cross stations where children and their families are impacted by challenges of fires, floods, and other hardships.
Please join us by reading stories on a YouTube video. Choose stories that are not copyrighted on or by writing and illustrating one of your own picture books.
Enroll first in the Foundation on the website: www.tacyfoundation.org.
SSL Hours for this project are determined by MCPS-SSL Department and Tacy Foundation.
1 hour of SSL Credit per video of a children's book.
For Chapter books, MCPS and Tacy Foundation will pre-approve the credit hours based on the length and time making the video.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home.
