This is an incredible chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families in our community while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

About EduCare Support Services, Inc.

Founded in 2010, EduCare Support Services, Inc. is dedicated to empowering vulnerable populations, including seniors, veterans, youth, and families, through innovative programs and services. Our initiatives include:
- Permanent Supportive Housing to prevent homelessness.
- Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs (PRP) for individuals managing mental health challenges.
- Takoma Park Food Pantry, providing fresh and culturally relevant food to underserved communities.
- Educational Training to help immigrant and refugee women and youth achieve driving independence.
- Community Wellness Initiatives focusing on mental health, resilience, and empowerment.

Volunteer and Internship Details

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to support various programs at the Takoma-Langley Park One Stop Center. Volunteers and interns will work closely with clients, participate in program implementation, and assist with administrative tasks.

- Location: Takoma-Langley Park One Stop Center, 7571 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20912.


- Volunteer Hours: Flexible shifts between Monday and Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.


- Supervision: Provided by Dr. Dunrick Sogie-Thomas, CPRP, CAMS-I, MA, DHA, CEO of EduCare Support Services, Inc.

About the CEO

Dr. Dunrick Sogie-Thomas brings over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, clinical mental health, and community development. He holds:
- A Doctorate in Healthcare Administration (DHA) from Virginia University of Lynchburg (an HBCU).
- Two master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Studies from Washington Adventist University (WAU).
- A BA in Social Work and Management in Aging Services from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).

Dr. Sogie-Thomas is a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) and Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS-I). He is committed to mentoring volunteers and interns to develop their skills and achieve their career aspirations.

Clinical Oversight

EduCare is proud to have licensed clinical professional counselors and other experienced clinicians on staff who will provide clinical oversight for students. This ensures a rich learning experience for interns pursuing degrees in social work, counseling, psychology, or related fields.
