Help remove our existing outdoor box turtle enclosure to make way for one that is new and improved!
Brookside Nature Center is home to three eastern box turtles who serve as wildlife ambassadors - educating the public about their important role in our forests and communities.
Staff and volunteers provide these turtles with time outdoors for their physical and mental health.
We need your help to remove their old outdoor enclosure - which has aged and deteriorated - to make way for something new, safe, and secure!
Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Don't forget water and a snack! Gloves and all other tools necessary will be provided.
Please note that we will be working to remove an old enclosure - we won't be interacting with the turtles.
Moderate to heavy work involves shoveling, bending, lifting, and carrying items of various sizes and weights.
For ages 12+. Participants under 14 MUST have a guardian attend with them.
Students can earn SSL hours by participating in this activity!

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours.
