Good Hope Union UMC is celebrating its 156th Homecoming, and we welcome volunteers to help our congregation and neighbors gather, connect, and access community resources. Volunteers will serve alongside church members and are essential to making our events warm, organized, and welcoming to all.
Depending on the shift and your interests, volunteers may:
•Greet and check in guests, vendors, and health partners, and help visitors find their way
•Set up and break down tables, chairs, signage, and vendor and exhibitor spaces
•Staff the information and welcome table and answer general questions
•Assist health and wellness partners (African American Health Program, Black Physicians Healthcare Network, AARP Maryland, MedStar Montgomery, Adventist HealthCare) with sign-in and flow
•Support vendors and the bazaar marketplace throughout the day
•Help with hospitality — serving refreshments, keeping common areas tidy
•Distribute programs, flyers, and giveaways
•Assist guests with mobility or accessibility needs
No experience is needed, just a friendly, dependable spirit. Training and a brief orientation are provided, and adults are always on site to supervise. Montgomery County Public Schools students can earn SSL (Student Service Learning) hours for their time.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
