Who We Are

The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a federally funded program designed to support Medicare by providing free local, unbiased, and Medicare-certified counseling and assistance to Montgomery County residents, their families, and caregivers.

Funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with support from Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, and the Maryland Department of Aging. Montgomery County has contracted with the Jewish Council for the Aging to manage the SHIP program.

  • Medicare-certified Counselor: You will help County residents by offering Medicare-related information, counseling, and problem resolution to County residents’ questions and concerns about Medicare, Medigap, Medicare Savings Programs, Extra-Help and Senior Prescription Drug Assistance Program.
