Who We Are

MobileMed has a great story that began in 1968, when two local doctors realized that while the children they were tutoring had access to health care, their parents did not. They established MobileMed's organizational values around collaboration, volunteerism, outreach and respect for patients. These are the same values that we hold paramount today. MobileMed's 2015 FQHC award is in part a testament to MobileMed's strong foundation, and in part an affirmation of our relevance for the future. MobileMed's success going forward, however, will depend on the generous support of the community. Thus far, MobileMed has been fortunate to be a part of a community that believes in our mission and our vision; we will continue to get the word out to those in need of healthcare that we are here and we are serving the most vulnerable in the community.

What We Do

MobileMed provides high quality, comprehensive healthcare, delivered in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner to low-income adult residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. We have seven primary care clinics and two specialty clinics located in areas with the greatest need and outreach capacity. MobileMed has a multilingual staff of ~35, plus 75 volunteer clinicians, who provide over 14,000 medical visits, serving nearly 5,000 low-income diverse individuals. As of August, 2015, we became a Federally Qualified Health Center.

MobileMed has volunteers assist in many ways. We are always interested in connecting with community members that would like to support our work! We may not have an active volunteer project, but we can put your information on file to reach out in future. Clinicians can volunteer to provide care for patients, and RNs, MAs, and other licensed and non-licensed individuals can support the provision of care. We are not able to have those under the age of 18 participate inside our clinics. However, as projects arise there are remote and in-person opportunities for youth volunteers to get involved in our administrative office and with our outreach team.

We encourage interested individuals to look at our listings on the Volunteer Center site and to check out the information on volunteering on our website: https://mobilemedicalcare.org/home/to-volunteer/
