American Muslim Senior Society, inc. (AMSS)

Who We Are

The American Muslim Senior Society empowers the county’s diverse 55+ older persons and their caregivers by giving them access to culturally sensitive tools and resources to improve their quality of life and give them the opportunity to live with dignity in their communities. AMSS focuses on isolated, underserved, and marginalized members.

Halal Meals on Wheels;

A comprehensive Social Outreach and Support Program was launched in 2019 to reach out to our older diverse community members, especially the isolated, underserved, and often chronically disabled.

The program started with 45 clients and now serves more than 600 older members and their families throughout the county. AMSS outreach has focused on zip codes with high concentrations of communities of color with health disparities.

AMSS works in partnership with two advisory councils, one representing the diverse communities we serve, and the other is comprised of representatives of Montgomery County’s premier health and long-term care organizations who serve as AMSS consultants and offer coordinated county services and resources.

Thanks to AMSS Health and Long -Term Care (HLTC) Outreach Ambassadors, these resources are delivered effectively to isolated and underserved diverse older adults and caregivers.
