Who We Are

AsylumWorks is the only nonprofit dedicated to serving the estimated 25,000 asylum seekers living in the D.C. Metro region. An asylum seeker is a person who applies for refugee status after they enter the U.S.

AsylumWorks provides holistic services to support asylum seekers and their families living in the Washington, D.C. region. Our mission is to support the safety, stability, and economic security of those who seek our services.

What We Do

The goal of the Community Engagement Program is to support asylum seekers in rebuilding their professional and social network and to be a bridge to the community at large.

We have a variety of in-person volunteer opportunities for those in the greater DC area and many virtual opportunities to all that are interested. Our in-person opportunities are designed to minimize any possible exposure to COVID-19 and incorporate social distancing and mask wearing.
