Who We Are
The Wood Acres Citizens Association supports and provides services to the 427 home Wood Acres neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland. The neighborhood is bounded by Massachusetts Avenue, Goldsboro Road and River Road.
What We Do
Wood Acres is home to young and old alike. Our neighbors include brand-new families, with children taking advantage of the wonderful Wood Acres Elementary School and Wood Acres Park right in our neighborhood, families who chose Wood Acres when the neighborhood was established in 1940, and everyone in between! Throughout the year, the all-volunteer Wood Acres Citizens Association (WACA) manages a busy calendar of events for the families of Wood Acres and nearby communities, including Food, Clothing, and Home Furnishing Drives to benefit WACA's non-profit community partners, informational seminars on topics of public welfare, such as household recycling, garden composting, and landscape conservation, and a variety of community social occasions, such as a festive Spring Egg Hunt, an internationally famous 4th of July Parade & Picnic, a Halloween Party and Costume Contest judged by the Great Pumpkin itself, a Holiday Gathering with Caroling and s'mores, and even a Dumpster Day, with lots of Yard Sales around the neighborhood. WACA's annual Fourth of July Parade has been held since 1958; this event, often described as the neighborhood highlight of the year, is always an enthusiastic display of considerable civic and patriotic pride throughout the community.
