Who We Are
Destination Imagination (DI) is a global educational nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders and creative problem solvers. We are a volunteer-led, cause-driven organization
What We Do
Our purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, we offer seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. Teams showcase their solutions at a progression of local and international tournaments across 48 states and 30 countries.
Volunteer Needs
Student Volunteers are needed each year on a short term basis to help at the local tournament in Montgomery County. Students complete a variety of tasks that may include: hanging signs, directing traffic in the hallways to ensure tournament participants can find events, delivering paperwork to adult volunteers throughout the building, moving small table and chairs to set up the classrooms.
Adult Volunteers are needed for short term commitments to help with local and state tournaments each spring. Volunteers may serve as appraisers to observe and provide feedback to participating youth teams and are also needed to staff check-in tables and concessions. Adults with more time to give can serve as Team Managers working with a particular team throughout the school year as they develop their challenge solution. Training is provided and teams may be organized through a variety of sponsoring organizations (schools, community organizations, and friends & family based teams are all welcome).
