Who We Are

As a community, we are committed to social action, the environment, and a wide range of congregational and community endeavors.

What We Do

We cook meals for SOME, Clean out local streams and parks, Make sandwiches for Stepping Stones Shelter, and Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, collect used clothing for Interfaith Works, collect bicycles and sneakers for third world countries, Visit the elderly and disabled at Kensington Parkwoood Nursing Home, Jewish Foundation of Group Homes and other social service establishments for friendly visiting and other activities.

During Covid-19 we have our teens read books virtually to our tots (ages 2-5). Reading 3 children's books = 1 SSL hour.  An image release form for reading books virtually must be signed by the student's parent or guardian. Image release form may be obtained by emailing schooladmin@templeemanuelmd.org.  Please note:   Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home until schools resume normal status.
