Who We Are

KCSC is a nonprofit social service agency for the Korean American community in the DC metro area since 1974. The mission of the organization is to assist and empower Korean Americans and new immigrants to become self-sufficient in American society through social services, education, advocacy and development of resources.

What We Do

KCSC's services and programs promote the well-being and quality life of members of the Korean community through intervention guided by the following principles: 1) Empowerment-based practice; 2) Development of a helping alliance 3) Culturally competent intervention, and 4) Community-based outreach. KCSC is the only agency in Montgomery County, or Prince George's County and Fairfax County, VA that offers culturally/linguistically appropriate outreach, education, case management, counseling, and housing services tailored specifically for the Korean community.

KCSC's Social Services include case management, counseling, information and referral; and escort and interpretation to low to moderate income individuals and families, promoting community integration and self-sufficiency.

The Family Enrichment Program provides domestic violence victim assistance, parenting workshops, family and couple and youth counseling, job readiness program, SAT prep class for low-income youth to meet the evolving needs of Asian immigrant families.

KCSC has had eight years working experience in domestic violence prevention and victim assistance and is now a major service provider addressing domestic violence issues within the Korean American community in the Metropolitan area.

Senior Empowerment Services include Senior Academy (alternative adult education for seniors), citizenship preparation classes, computer classes, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, and job opportunities through SCSEP (Senior Community Service Employment Program). Health Promotion Program includes health education programs, annual health fairs, affordable healthcare services through KAMMSA community clinic in Montgomery County, MD.

In addition, KCSC is providing physical and mental health outreach and counseling, alcohol and substance abuse education and counseling, and breast cancer early detection program. Immigration Services assist eligible Korean immigrants with access to public services and provide free or Low-cost immigration legal assistance, translation, and notarization of documents.
