Who We Are
Kolot HaLev is a community choir that was founded in 2008 to recover and perform rare Jewish music from liturgical, classical and folk sources. Our mission is to preserve and keep this rich repertoire alive through performances in Hebrew, English, Yiddish, Ladino, Italian, Russian, French, and Spanish. We also aspire to bring all denominations and communities together to enjoy Jewish song, both as performers or audience members.
What We Do
All ages are welcomed to join us as singers. There are no auditions. We usually rehearse on Thursday evenings at Ohr Kodesh Congregation but during COVID restrictions, we rehearse online using Zoom. Our director, Dr. Ramon Tasat, coaches members to reach their highest potential to sing sophisticated choral works and to accentuate Kolot HaLev's signature delivery of blended voices. We sing as the Choir-in-Residence for Shirat Ha Nefesh, a local transdenominational congregation in Chevy Chase, MD. We also give an annual concert and have performed at various venues beyond our home base.
