Who We Are
American Chinese School provides a varied and rigorous educational experience for our students. We empower our students to become independent learners, critical thinkers, and culturally competent citizens. We strive to encourage students to cherish Chinese culture and heritage, foster and enhance friendship among Chinese-American community, and contribute to the mutual understanding and appreciation of Chinese and other cultures. American Chinese School is dedicated to serving the community and helping parents fulfill their goal of enabling their children to compete in a global society.
What We Do
1. Teacher assistant: A teacher assistant works under the supervision of a
teacher to support the learning and development of students. They could
support teachers with lesson planning, assignment grading, and student
support in small groups or one-on-one settings. They might also assist with
administrative duties including planning lesson plans and liaising with
parents or other staff members.
2. School events helper: During school events, volunteers may assist with
tasks such as setting up and decorating the event space, managing activities
or games, distributing food or refreshments, and cleaning up after the
event. They may also greet attendees, provide directions or information,
and ensure that everyone is safe and having a good time. Overall,
volunteers help to make the event run smoothly and successfully.
3. Student council: As volunteers in a student council, students work to
represent the interests of their fellow students and improve the school
community. They may organize events and activities, plan fundraisers, and
communicate with school administration to advocate for student needs and
ideas. They also provide leadership and mentorship opportunities for
students interested in developing their skills and making a positive impact
on their school.
4. Community service: Community service for student volunteers involves
engaging in activities that benefit their local community and help meet the
needs of its members. These various activities can include volunteering at a
soup kitchen, organizing a clothing drive, participating in a neighborhood
cleanup, or tutoring underprivileged children. Community service provides
opportunities for students to develop skills, build connections, and make a
positive impact on their community.
