Who We Are

Ashagari Women Empowerment Center (AWEC) -  “Ashagari” means “the one who helps transform” in Amharic

Mission:
AWEC empowers women, girls, and youth through education, leadership development, entrepreneurship programs, and community initiatives that help build confidence, skills, and opportunities to thrive.

Vision:
We envision a world where women and girls are confident, economically empowered, and equipped to lead, innovate, and contribute to strong, inclusive communities.

History:
AWEC was founded to bring a dedicated space for learning, mentorship, and empowerment to communities in the United States. Building on over a decade of experience supporting women, girls, and youth in Ethiopia through leadership and education programs, AWEC now offers workshops, training, and community initiatives designed to foster growth, opportunity, and lasting impact.

What We Do

Help organize and set up workshops, trainings, and masterclasses. Assist during events (registration desk, welcoming guests, logistics). Support community discussions and women empowerment gatherings. Help share information about our programs in the community. Support outreach campaigns. Data entry and organizing documents Helping prepare training materials. Take photos or videos during events. Help design flyers or event invitations. Support the fundraising effort.
