The DC Blues Society was established in 1987 and is dedicated to keeping the blues music traditions of the Washington, DC area alive (including the MD and VA suburbs and surrounding areas). DCBS has a monthly blues jam, monthly Happy Hours with live bands, an Annual DC Blues Festival, an Annual Battle of the Bands and Solo-Duo Competition, and other special events. DCBS also supports other organization's blues events, and is an affiliate organization of The Blues Foundation. The current DCBS Board of Directors meets monthly via Zoom. Many DCBS events are held at the Silver Spring American Legion.
What We Do
Volunteers perform special as well as recurring responsibilities to support the mission of the DC Blues Society (DCBS). DCBS has an all-volunteer Board of Directors, as well as key volunteers. As of Dec. 2025, there is a critical need for volunteers to serve as Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer. Other volunteer tasks include updating the DCBS website, preparing a weekly eblast message, coordinating ticket giveaways, fundraising, staffing DCBS booths at blues events, and serving as membership coordinator.
