Who We Are

With the help of well-trained volunteer lawyers each year, Volunteer Legal Advocates provides comprehensive legal services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault. Every year, we help over hundreds of clients escape violence and move toward safety & stability.

What We Do

Volunteer attorneys can sign up for a weekly Domestic Violence and Family Law walk-in clinic shift at the Rockville Memorial Library to provide brief legal advice to survivors of domestic violence in their protective order, divorce, or custody case. We employ a co-counsel model, and volunteers can sign up to represent survivors in their court hearings, accepting a case for full or limited representation and collaborate with experienced supervising attorneys. Volunteers receive comprehensive training materials and a high degree of supervision from Maryland-barred supervising attorneys.
