Who We Are

The Supernovas Cheerleading Booster Club is a volunteer based group of supporters of the Supernovas CheerAbilities team based in Montgomery County Maryland. Our booster club works to support inclusion in sports, in particular All Star Cheerleading. The Supernovas are a competitive cheerleading team comprised of athletes with physical, developmental, and/or intellectual disabilities. The team competes in the CheerAbilities division at 5-6 All Star competitions a year (both local and out of state). The purpose of the Supernovas Cheerleading Booster Club is to raise funds and purchase goods or services to be used by athletes, their families, support personnel, coaches, and volunteers for Club activities, and to engage in other charitable, civic, or educational activities that will contribute to the community.

What We Do

Our volunteers assist our coaches during practices and competitions. They work directly with the athletes taking instruction from the coaches. Volunteers lead warm-ups; demonstrate proper technique in jumps, tumbling, and stunting; teach new skills; and support those who may need extra help. Our volunteers sometimes work 1:1 with an athlete, but they also participate in team building activities. They also participate in creating tutorial videos for the athletes. Some volunteers take pictures and/or video to help coaches with formations and choreography for the routine and to be used on our website and social media.
