Who We Are

The LIFT Academy provides a unique opportunity for high school students and their families to begin preparation for postsecondary education through several programs and activities.

What We Do

Volunteers can tutor high school-aged students in academic subjects and college preparatory skills like college admission essays, scholarship applications, resume development, and cover letters.

SSL-eligible opportunities include volunteering at UMD concession stands during athletic games (e.g. football and basketball). This opportunity provides experience related to operating a small business, building confidence, customer service, and food prep skills.

SSL-eligible opportunities also include supporting the LIFT Academy with essential office tasks related to program planning. Typical assignments may include working with the LIFT Coordinator to plan courses, promote activities through email and social media, and design advertising materials. This opportunity builds project management skills, technical design skills, and community outreach skills.
