Who We Are

Formed in 1913 as a philanthropic organization with a focus on caring for women, children and families, WCCC has been serving the community for over 100 years. Our stated objective is to promote the welfare of the community and of the State of Maryland. In our first century we have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in college, music and art scholarships; lobbied the State for the creation of kindergartens in the 1920s; served as a polling station in the '40s & 50s; and provided significant service to both the Naval Hospital and the American Red Cross (ARC) for over 50 continuous years. We host monthly blood drives for the ARC. In response to the pandemic of 2020, WCCC members made & sold 9,000 masks to the community to fund our usual Community projects. We donated over 1800 masks to local hospitals, family shelters and children's homes. In 2021 we will launch our largest community event: Mystery Mansion. Designed for kids aged 5 to 12 and for Halloween lovers of all ages, the historic Club House will become haunted and our gardens will host a Bonfire Bash. Proceeds will support our local committments. Our activities and membership continue to evolve with the times, matching our motto: community, committment and caring since 1913.

What We Do

WCCC raises funds to provide student scholarships and grants to local community groups. We hold drives to collect necessary items for in-kind donations to food banks, schools, shelters, and other community efforts. We organize and host an Annual Community Art Show every Spring. In 2021 WCCC will introduce Mystery Mansion, a full Halloween experience for families featuring our historic (haunted?) Club House.
