Maryland Access to Justice Commission

Who We Are

The Maryland Access to Justice Commission (A2JC; https://www.mdaccesstojustice.org/) works to make MD’s civil justice system accessible, equitable, and fair for all Marylanders. The civil justice system encompasses landlord/tenant, domestic abuse, immigration, small claims, and family law cases, among other types of non-criminal cases. Low-income Marylanders’ access to civil justice is limited by insufficient resources (e.g., free legal services) available to them.

What We Do

The A2JC plans and implements various projects, including forming partnerships with community and legal agencies and organizations. The A2JC has only one paid staff person, an Executive Director. She must complete many tasks, including managing activities; communicating with partner agencies and organizations; writing grant applications and reports; and creating content for blogs, social media, and the A2JC website.
