Come help out for our Annual Egg Hunt! This is a family-friendly, outdoor event. Families will come to enjoy live entertainment including a DJ, face painters, and balloon twisters, in addition to popcorn, touch-a-truck, photos with Mr. Bunny! 

Volunteers will help with set-up and break-down of the event as well as basic field monitoring and facilitating crafts/games. 

Arrival time is 8:30am with an anticipated end time of 1:30pm. Volunteers will meet at the Takoma Park Community Center (7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD 20912), in the Azalea Room for check-in. Volunteer vests, badges, refreshments, and periodic breaks will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Assignment Form in order to confirm their attendance, time slot of availability, and indicate their preferred station.

We are looking for outgoing and friendly people, and while all jobs are not physically demanding, they all do require the ability to work on uneven ground and lots of walking.

Join us in honoring Earth Day with a community cleanup and gardening in Prathertown! Together, we’ll make a hands-on difference by keeping our local environment healthy and beautiful on Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (weather permitting). 

Spend a Saturday outdoors enjoying the fresh air, connecting with neighbors, and helping care for our planet. Participants will collect litter and recyclables along 1.5 miles Wightman Road. Students can earn SSL hours. We’ll meet at the corner of Prathertown and Wightman Road. In the morning we will be having a community cleanup, followed by sustainable gardening. We will work together to count and take photos of every bag of trash collected for a report to the Department of Transportation. You’re also welcome to bring a canned food item for our Earth Day food drive supporting local families.

Impact

Prathertown is a neighborhood in Gaithersburg originally founded in 1883 by emancipated people. It has a long and deep rooted history that is evident today in Prathertown's many artifacts and historical homes. By volunteering, you will be contributing to the health of Prathertown’s environment and reducing litter. 

By collecting and removing litter from Prathertown, the animals benefit from a cleaner, safer habitat that helps protect them from pollution, injury, and contaminated food sources. 

By registering, you acknowledge that volunteering may involve physical activity, handling sharp or heavy objects, and contact with unfamiliar persons or animals. Please exercise reasonable care and understand you assume any personal risk of injury or property damage.

Assist 1:1 a child with autism on the tennis court working on social, athletic and tennis skills. Classes run on 6 consecutive Sundays and we ask volunteers to be available for at least 4 out of the 6 dates in order to provide consistency to the participants. Thank you!

TLC's exciting summer small therapeutic group programs are in search of fun, creative, and energetic volunteers. You will help our participants have a summer of fun in a variety of ways. There are exciting weekly themes, arts and crafts, yoga, music and drama and outdoor water activities on any given week. You'll engage with young children regularly and assist them in building social skills, physical strength, and improving their communication. Fun and learning are all in a day's play. Come be a part of your community and have a fantastic time this summer. We welcome volunteers who are age 16 and over. Camps run for 7 weeks. Volunteers must volunteer for a minimum of 2 full weeks (Monday-Friday), mornings, afternoons, or all day. SSL hours available. Wonderful learning opportunity for anyone interested in working with children, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling or Special Education.

Become a historian for the day! Help museum staff transcribe historical documents and make information searchable and accessible for researchers. This opportunity is appropriate for ages 13 and up.

Sessions are offered over Zoom at the following times. Volunteers may register for one or both sessions. Museum staff will attend and answer questions. 

This Transcribe-a-Thon event will focus on documents containing information about Black community members in Sandy Spring.

Transcribe-a-thon is a monthly virtual program giving students and community members an opportunity to explore Sandy Spring history and contribute to the care of our community’s historical records.

Vines and bushes are killing our native trees and plants. Volunteers will use clippers, saws and other hand tools to remove the invasive plants and free the trees. Participants have told us that they can hear the trees thanking them. It's an opportunity to be outside and make a difference for the environment. The activity is open to everyone. Training is on site.  We have tools and gloves to lend. 

Meet at the Willard Avenue Park entrance at 5310 Willard Avenue.  We will be working on removing ivy from the trees there.  There is free parking along Willard Avenue.

Join the City of Takoma Park in volunteering for the City's Earth Day Event! This popular annual event is held rain or shine and will take place this year on Sunday, April 12th, 2026. Volunteers are needed to support a number of activities, including set-up, breakdown, partner outreach booth support, children's activities support, bike activities support, EV showcase support, and more. This event will be held in 2 location nodes; the Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park and the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op. All volunteers will be requested to attend a mandatory in-person training at the City's Public Work Office ahead of the event, where node location and activities will be assigned. The trainings will be held on:

Archaeology Day gives families a chance to get a glimpse into the world of an archaeologist!

A guided, nature-based art experience focused on exploration and fun

For SSL hours, join us in the setup and facilitation for a free, lively, exploratory pop-up workshop designed to spark imagination and creative confidence. You will help to experiment, combine materials, break small rules, and follow curiosity rather than instructions. Assist them in discovering native plants and animals, rain gardens, or neighborhood green spaces, and create unique line drawings that can be used as coloring pages or shared with others. Premade coloring pages will also be available for attendees who do not want to paint.

You will be working with kids for this volunteer opportunity since this workshop will be geared towards kids ages 6-12.

For students looking to earn SSL hours, you will be supporting the workshop facilitators in setting up, leading, and post workshop cleaning.

No prior art experience is required, and all materials are provided.

Join Rock Creek Conservancy, Potomac Conservancy, and Montgomery Parks for a litter removal restoration event at Aspen Hill Local Park. Trash is the visible form of stormwater pollution, a major threat to water quality and park health and its removal makes the parklands cleaner, safer, and more beautiful for all. This event is part of the Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup - a month-long push to remove litter throughout the Rock Creek watershed! Additional information will be sent from the event leader one business day before the event. Event location, directions, and information will be sent from the event leader 48 hours prior to the event.

What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the work and weather. We recommend wearing sturdy boots or sneakers and long layers, including pants and long sleeves - this ensures safety and reduces likelihood of exposure to nuisances like poison ivy. 

What to bring: We recommend bringing water, and snacks if desired. Tools and supplies will be provided. Please bring your own gloves if you have them.

Decorate beautiful journals that recipients can use as appointment planners, symptom trackers, or simply coloring books. The covers and a few pages inside could be spaces for volunteers to draw outlines or artwork, write inspiring messages, etc.

For those seeking service hours: As of August 11, 2023, we ONLY accept store-bought journals that you decorate yourself for service hours, but not composition notebooks. The outside covers should be decorated with hand-drawn art and/or handwritten inspiring quotes. Using only stickers or decorative tape is not acceptable for service hours. At least one of the inside pages should also be decorated with calendars, activity or coloring pages, handwritten inspiring messages, etc.

Undecorated store-bought journals are always welcome but are not eligible for service hours. Handmade journals may be accepted only if pre-approved and exceptionally well-made.

Warrior Canine Connection is a non-profit organization which breeds, raises and trains dogs with the assistance of Veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), or mobility issues. These dogs are eventually placed as service dogs for Wounded Warriors, military family support dogs, or facility dogs for Veteran Organizations. We are actively seeking volunteers to serve as Puppy Parents for future service dogs in training and would love for Montgomery County youth to co-raise with their parent or guardian.

For the duration of their training, WCC pups live in Puppy Raiser's homes. In addition to any training the dogs do with Warriors, they are constantly working on their skills in a home environment and at training sessions at WCC. 

Puppy Raisers train our service dogs for 4 to 20 months before the dogs graduate and are placed with their forever Veteran. Each puppy goes home with his or her Puppy Parent between the ages of 8-12 weeks. To be considered for this important task, you must be willing and able to provide the following support and training for the WCC service dog in training:

As a youth co-raiser, you can earn 1 SSL hour for each day that you have the dog and take an active role in its training and healthcare (This is not a dog fostering program).  In order to demonstrate this you must attend weekly trainings, complete monthly progress reports, submit the daily reflective journal every 12 weeks, and bring your dog to Head Quarters in Germantown when necessary.  If not all parts are completed, the student will only earn a portion of the hours based on their involvement.  This is a big responsibility, but it will be so rewarding.  Not only can you earn SSL hours, but you will be serving the Veteran community, learning how to train a dog, and this experience will look amazing on college resumes.

Birthday Cakes 4 Free Maryland (BC4F) is a nonprofit organization that collects and delivers birthday cakes to financially and socially disadvantaged children and seniors. We are an entirely student run organization!

Anyone can become a volunteer! There is no minimum age requirement. This is a great way to start earning SSL hours in middle school. 

Students bake cakes in their homes. Cakes must meet the container guidelines which are outlined on www.bc4f.org. The decoration/flavor/design of your cake(s) is up to you but we would prefer if you could write “Happy Birthday!” on your cake(s). You can make a cake from a cake mix or your favorite recipe. Round, square or rectangle cakes are all okay as long as they are individually and securely boxed, with lids taped for transport. Round cakes must have multiple layers. Single layer 9" round cakes will not earn SSL hours. We also accept cupcakes. Twenty-four cupcakes are equivalent to one cake. How to Sign-Up to Bake Cakes

Currently, we accept cake donations on one Sunday a month. Our current delivery location is in Rockville near Farmland Elementary School. Clean up trash with the with Glenmont Forest Neighbors Civic Association (GFNCA)

Join the Glenmont Forest Neighbors Civic Association on the second Sunday of each month from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM to help clean up trash and recycling in the Glenmont Forest neighborhood and surrounding areas.

You are welcome to participate as often as you’d like — monthly attendance is encouraged but not required.

Why It Matters

During rainstorms, discarded trash and recycling wash into storm drains and flow into rivers, lakes, and oceans. By removing litter from our neighborhood, we help prevent pollution and protect our waterways — even our drinking water. Together, we can make a visible difference in our community and environment.

The Germantown Historical Society, the Button farm Living History, and a Scout Troop sponsor open air Flea Markets on the first Saturday April through November. Teen volunteers can earn SSL hours by helping with parking within the lot, help buyers carry their purchases, and help to manage the lot and pick up trash -- always in pairs and with adult supervision. Adult volunteers will help with traffic control and supervising the vendors.  The Flea Markets are lots of fun -- you get to meet all kinds of people and dogs, and you get to go around the Market and find your own treasures.

One Montgomery Green (OMG) is hosting a FREE Community Paper Shredding and Electronic recycling event for the community on April 11, 2026. from 10 am-1 pm at the Silver Spring Methodist Church parking lot 8900 Georgia Ave Silver Spring MD 20910.

We are looking for volunteers to staff the information booth, help direct traffic and provide general information about OMG. Volunteers are expected to arrive by 9:30a to help set ups stations.

Volunteers have be to at least 14 years old. SSL hours are available.

Volunteers will create physical cheerful penpal letters to brighten the day of hospitalized children, seniors, and students. These letters will be distributed to hospitals, senior centers, and youth programs to help brighten someone’s day and reduce feelings of isolation. Each letter is 1 SSL hour. Please include a separate cover letter including your name, email address, school name, and number of cards submitted.

Artwork Guidelines:

Artwork can be created using: Colored pencils, markers, watercolor, crayons, etc. All drawings must be fully colored.

Physical artworks should be created on cardstock, watercolor paper, or letter paper (cardstock or watercolor paper preferred). Fold the paper in half and only draw on one side of the paper. The other side will be used to write the letter. You can draw anything appropriate and encouraging. Please avoid violent and scary themes. Some good drawing ideas include nature landscapes, animals, flowers, sunsets, etc. 

Letter Guidelines: Write a letter (6-10 sentences) about: something you did recently, a hobby you enjoy, a favorite place or season, something that made you smile, etc. The letter must fill up the inside of the card. Please do not mention illness, politics, hospitals or write phrases like “get well soon.” Instead, focus on sharing something cheerful about your life. Each completed card counts as 1 SSL hour. Please start with a friendly greeting such as: Hi there! Hello! Please only include your first name at the end of the letter (Ex. Love, Alex). Letters should be handwritten so they feel more personal and genuine to the recipient.

Please do not include any personal information such as your full name, email address, or home address in your notes. Also, please do not include any real-life pictures or images of yourself. 

Examples: 

Submissions must meet basic quality standards. SSL hours will not be awarded if they: Are not fully colored, include AI-generated artwork, appear very low effort (quick scribbles, unfinished drawings), contain inappropriate or negative content, contain unoriginal/copied content (including templates), etc. Please create artwork that you would feel proud to give to a friend or display on your wall. Our goal is to share high-quality, cheerful artwork and messages that can truly brighten someone’s day.

SSL hours for submissions received before Friday, May 22 will be reviewed and sent out on Friday, May 22.

SSL hours for submissions received on or after May 22 will be reviewed and sent out in January 2027.

The People's Community Baptist church offers various opportunities to earn SSL hours.  We serve as a food distribution site on Wednesdays from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Volunteers are needed to sort, bag, and hand out the food via a drive-through process.

On the 4th Saturdays (7:30am-9:30am), we serve as a host site for the SHARE (Self Help and Resource Program) food distribution program where volunteers are needed to help package bulk food for distribution.

Quarterly, (on Saturdays), we collect, sort, and distribute gently used clothes to the community.

On the first and third Wednesdays, we host a program/lunch for seniors and retirees (11am to 1pm).  Volunteers can assist in the room set set-up and break down of tables and chairs; and assist with serving lunch and clean up, and/or where needed.

We need volunteers to assist teachers with our weekly Sunday School classes (9am-10am), and with the set of technology equipment, etec.  We use volunteers to assist our media team

We also offer special events and programs that requires volunteers who need opportunities to earn SSL hours. Some of those events include our Annual Easter Egg Hunt; Annual Church Picnic; Annual Hallelujah Party; Annual Vacation Bible School. Students can assist in making decorations, decorating classrooms and hallways; assistance with indoor and out door games; playground

Camp Counselors are required to volunteer for at least one week-long camp totaling 40 hours per session (20 hours for half-day preschool camps). Camps run Monday through Friday. All applicants must attend a Camp Counselor Training on Saturday, June 13 from 10am to 2pm at Locust Grove Nature Center. Camp Counselors must be comfortable working outside for the majority of their shift in variable conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and mud. Camp activities make use of our various outdoor areas including the nature play space, the creek, campfire rings, outdoor classrooms, and our natural surface trails. All volunteers are expected to show up for their shift on time, be fully engaged with their group, report incidents or safety concerns to staff immediately, and proactively work to create a positive camp atmosphere for all. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and submit to a background check.

We’re seeking a friendly and organized front-line team member to support our reception area. In this role, you’ll welcome and check in visitors, provide clear information, and help ensure smooth daily operations under the direction of TESS staff. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, as you may assist with interpretation and translation for clients, volunteers, and partner programs!

Join the Community Design Lab for a hands-on Volunteer Build Day as we bring our student-designed conservation garden to life at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. This is the final step of our Spring Design+Build program, where local students and volunteers work side by side to transform ideas into a living landscape that supports pollinators, manages stormwater, and beautifies the community.

You don’t need any special skills, just a willingness to dig in, plant, and learn. We’ll provide tools, gloves, and guidance. Together, we’ll install native plants like black-eyed susans, purple coneflowers, and butterfly weed, creating a lasting outdoor classroom and gathering space for all.

Grace Helping Hands is seeking volunteers to assist with social media content creation and posting to help promote our mission of providing essential toiletry kits to homeless women and children.

To ensure consistency and impact, we ask that volunteers commit to 12 months of service and be able to dedicate three hours per week to this role.

This Student Service Learning (SSL) opportunity is approved for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) middle and high school students.

Students can earn SSL hours by creating handwritten encouragement cards for unhoused women and children served by Grace Helping Hands.

SSL Hour Credit (MCPS Approved)

30 encouragement cards = 1 SSL hour

• Students may earn up to 3 SSL hours per day during the school year

• Students may earn up to 6 SSL hours per day during holidays and school breaks

• Messages must be kind, supportive, and appropriate for all audiences

Description:

Grace Helping Hands is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing toiletry kits and feminine hygiene products to homeless women and children in Montgomery County and beyond. We are offering an impactful volunteer opportunity for MCPS students to earn SSL hours while advocating for those in need.

Volunteers will participate in a writing campaign to raise awareness and request support from local legislators, businesses, and manufacturers. Students will draft emails to local congresspersons, stores, vendors, and manufacturers, urging them to support Grace Helping Hands by donating products or funding.

Volunteers will design digital encouragement cards to brighten the day of hospitalized children, seniors, and students. These digital cards will be shared with hospitals, senior centers, and youth programs to help spread positivity and reduce feelings of isolation. Each completed card counts as .5 SSL hours. Due to the overwhelming number of submissions, each person may only make up to 10 cards per month. 

SSL hours for submissions received before Friday, May 22 will be reviewed and sent out on Friday, May 22. SSL hours for submissions received on or after May 22 will be reviewed and sent out in January 2027.

Instructions: Create a digital card that includes a colorful illustration/design and a short encouraging message. Good themes include nature scenes, animals, flowers, characters, positive quotes, etc. Some examples of a short positive message are a positive thought, a message about kindness, something that might make someone smile, etc. Do not include references to illness or hospitals, phrases like get well soon, politics or religion, and personal contact information. Cards can be created through Canva, Photoshop, or any digital drawing software. They should be colorful, appropriate and high resolution. AI-generated artwork, copied images, and low-quality designs will not receive SSL hours. 

Please do not include any personal information such as your full name, email address, or home address in your notes. Also, please do not include any real-life pictures or images of yourself.

The Children-Based volunteer provides students with a hands-on opportunity to support children in a fun, structured ABA environment. Interns assist with group activities, social skills programming, and community-based learning while working closely with experienced BCBAs and RBTs. Join Rock Creek Conservancy and Montgomery Parks for a litter removal restoration event at Glenmont Local Park. Trash is the visible form of stormwater pollution, a major threat to water quality and park health and its removal makes the parklands cleaner, safer, and more beautiful for all. This event is part of the Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup - a month-long push to remove litter throughout the Rock Creek watershed!

Event location, directions, and information will be sent from the event leader 48 hours prior to the event.

What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the work and weather. We recommend wearing sturdy boots or sneakers and long layers, including pants and long sleeves - this ensures safety and reduces likelihood of exposure to nuisances like poison ivy. 

What to bring: We recommend bringing water, and snacks if desired. Tools and supplies will be provided. Please bring your own gloves if you have them.

Each day is packed with imaginative musical games and creative crafts that bring the magic of movies to life. The week ends with a star-studded performance for family and caregivers!

Rhythm is the heartbeat of music! Meet the beats of rock, pop, and jazz music through hands-on experience with various percussion instruments such as sticks, cymbals, boom whackers, buckets, and drum sets, too! All instruments are provided.

Almost all of our piano faculty members will join together for solo, duo, and trio performances on the piano! If you love piano music, this is a great event to volunteer for.

We are excited to invite volunteers to be part of DMV Sprummer Fest 2026, a vibrant community event bringing families together for a day of fun, culture, food, music, and engaging activities for all ages. Volunteers play a key role in making this event successful by helping with event setup, activity coordination, guest assistance, parking management and overall event support.

This is a great opportunity with multiple shifts for students and community members to gain valuable volunteering experience while supporting a meaningful community initiative. Middle School and High School students will receive Student Service Learning (SSL) hours for their participation.

As a thank-you for your support, free parking, food and drinks will be provided to all volunteers during the event.

Become a historian for the day! Help museum staff transcribe historical documents and make information searchable and accessible for researchers. This opportunity is appropriate for ages 13 and up.

Sessions are offered over Zoom at the following times. Volunteers may register for one or both sessions. Museum staff will attend and answer questions. 

This Transcribe-a-Thon event will focus on documents containing information about Black community members in Sandy Spring.

This time around we will cook up Vegetable Soup with Pesto led by an experienced student KindSoup Chef via zoom. Join us from the comfort of your kitchen on Sunday, May 3rd from 5pm-6pm.

Students can earn 1 Student Service Learning Hour for every 2 quarts of frozen soup delivered to others. There is a maximum of 10 quarts that can qualify for any given day (5 SSL hours). Most recipes render 6 quarts of soup, 3 SSL hours.

Montgomery Counties' largest STEM festival, in our 35th year at Montgomery Colleges Rockville Campus. We fill 5 buildings and the sidewalks with 100 STEM exhibitors and expect 4,000 visitors.

The 2025-2026 Youth Commissioners of the Montgomery County Commission on Children and Youth are thrilled to extend an official invitation to you for the 19th annual Youth Voice Roundtable on Friday, April 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Upper County Community Center (8201 Emory Grove Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). The event will be offering both in-person and virtual participation options via Zoom.

This year’s roundtable will discuss topics centered around youth resiliency, including student experiences with digital literacy and safety and human trafficking awareness. Our goal is to highlight the importance of youth involvement in shaping conversations around these complex topics. Students must use personal/private accounts (not MCPS student accounts) to engage in the virtual platform.

Students will only engage with others under the direct supervision of a nonprofit supervisor. The nonprofit supervisor will be directly present in the virtual space (including any breakout sessions) at all times.

The nonprofit supervisor will initiate and host all virtual sessions. If the nonprofit supervisor is not available to initiate and host the virtual session, the session will not occur.

Virtual sessions will not be recorded.

Students should not share or upload any videos, pictures, or images of themselves, unless the nonprofit organization has obtained a signed form/waiver from the student’s parent/guardian authorizing permission/release.

Students’ email addresses/home addresses or any personally identifying information will remain protected and not shared.

The Muddy Branch Alliance is holding its annual native plant sale! We need volunteers to help 1200 native plants reach their new homes in our community. The event functions as an online pre-sale; when we receive the plants, volunteers play a key role in sorting the plants and distributing orders to customers. Help us make it happen! Volunteer activities include picking up plants from the nursery, sorting plants into customer orders, calling customers to remind them to come get their plants, and helping customers carry plants to their cars.

No special knowledge of plants is needed - we will teach you the sorting process. Join us for this fun event!

Mosaic is an annual language arts program for middle school students to showcase their creative talents and express their cultural identities. The program is held in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL). Entries are in the category of essay, short story, or poem (including a spoken word or written version of a rap) and allow students to creatively express their personal reflections on diversity and culture.

There are writing workshops where registrants will receive hands-on instruction on the writing process, strategy for adding focus to your writing, engage in writing prompts, read like a writer, and more!

Please Note: This project is not for individual student volunteers but rather for student classes that have a school staff member as a sponsor to supervise and monitor the student service.

75-minute film screening followed by discussion. Teens 13 & up are eligible to earn SSL hours by attending, participating, and providing feedback!

Join us for an eye-opening event for teens, their families and communities. We'll screen the impactful film Can't Look Away, which explores the dangers of social media and the connection between harmful algorithms and their negative effects on young users.

After the film, engage in a discussion about the urgent need for reform, the risks associated with social media, and how to stay informed and seek help for affected youth. Students 13 and up will also participate in a writing activity that will allow them to reflect on what they can do to help curb the negative impacts of social media. This free event is a valuable opportunity to educate families on these critical issues and take proactive steps to protect our community's young members.

Please be advised that this film explores difficult subject matter that some viewers may find distressing. Viewer discretion is advised, particularly for children under the age of 13.

The Interfaith Works Women's Center at Crabbs Branch provides short-term, emergency shelter services to adult women. In addition to temporary shelter, the IW Women's Center also provides case management services to each client. These services connect clients to other community resources, such as primary medical care, legal services, psychiatric services, permanent housing services, and vocational services.

We are looking for volunteers to prepare meals for the 50 clients at the IW Women's Center, located at 16911 Crabbs Branch Way, Derwood, MD 20855. Meals need to be dropped off at the following times (please note you can drop off meals earlier):

· Breakfast: drop off by 6:00 am or the day before

· Lunch: drop off by 11:30 am

· Dinner: drop off by 6:00 pm

Students can earn 2 SSL hours for making homemade meals (not for store-bought or purchased items).  

If you are interested in providing a meal to our clients and would like to serve we can have up to 5 volunteers. Take before and after pictures of exhibit space.

Help monitor artifact tables and ensure items remain organized and protected.

Place signage in windows and tables.

Appropriately place acrylic signs at each historic category.

We are looking for volunteers to prepare meals for the 30 clients at the IW New Leaf Shelter, located at 5320 Marinelli Rd, Rockville MD, 20852. Meals need to be dropped off at the following times (please note you can drop off meals earlier):

Students can earn 2 SSL hours for making homemade meals (not for store-bought or purchased items).  

If you are interested in providing a meal to our clients and would like to serve we can have up to 5 volunteers. Masks are required for all volunteers along with a temperature and symptom upon arrival. Breakfast is drop off only. Students can also earn SSL hours for the time spent serving meals outside of school hours. Please let us know at least one week in advance if you'd like to serve the meal.

If you're dropping off meals, please label the containers with the ingredients so our clients with dietary restrictions can be aware. When you arrive, you can either call our front staff at 301-603-2322 or come into the lobby to deliver your donations. There will also be a cart outside available for you to use, if needed.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home.

Interfaith Works Becky's House is a home that provide permanent housing, 24-hour oversight, and intensive case management services to 8 senior women with behavioral health diagnoses.

We are looking for volunteers to prepare meals for the 8 clients at the IW Becky's House, located at 13023 Parkland Dr., Rockville, MD 20853. Meals need to be dropped off at the following times (please note you can drop off meals earlier):

· Breakfast: 9:00-10:00 am

· Lunch: 1:00-2:00 pm

· Dinner: 5:00-6:00 pm
