Volunteer: 9th Annual Wheaton Arts Parade & FestivalWheaton is walking to celebrate art and its diverse cultures. On September 28, the parade and festival will feature floats, music, dance, and more than 50 booths of artists selling their original art. Wheaton Arts Parade (WAP) needs volunteers to help pull floats and manage the parade assembly area, to hang signs from vendors' booths, to help artists set up their festival exhibits, to assist stage managers, to help lead art making activities, to distribute programs, staff the information booth and to help with packing up and returning floats to storage. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and voucher toward the purchase of food or beverage. Students 13 years and older are able to volunteer and earn SSL hours. ADULTS ARE NEEDED TOO!! Volunteers are needed from 7am until 6pm. More volunteers are needed between 7am-12pm and from 4pm-6pm. Volunteers need to attend a 60-90 minute orientation on Sunday, September 14 OR on Saturday, September 20. SSL hours will be given for the orientation. Volunteers will be contacted by the volunteer coordinator in early September with more details. Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. These should be two-dimensional and can be granny squares, flowers, real or imaginary creatures, or other crochet or knit creations in acrylic yarn - of any size or shape in order to fill up 20"x60" or 54"x45" sized panels. contact Wheatonyarnbomb@gmail.com to arrange delivery.
