Your Role

As a Digital and Social Marketing & Communications Expert, you will:

hhhumanity.org helps around 160 students each week (children and their families) who need weekend nutrition. This enables the students to achieve their full potential at learning when they return to school on Monday.

We are looking for passionate and caring Volunteers who would make a difference in the students' lives by eliminating learning barriers.

This volunteering opportunity involves the following:

1. Picking up food supplies from Gaithersburg, MD

2. Drop off the food supplies at Bethesda, MD

Frequency: Once a week. Day and time can be flexible and coordinated to be consistent across the weeks

Helping Hands for Humanity Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty cycles through the transformative power of education. By addressing barriers to learning such as nutrition and access to educational resources, we aim to empower children and create opportunities for a brighter future.

Position Overview:
We are seeking highly motivated and skilled individuals passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of the students in need. As a volunteer in Grants Research, Applications, and Management, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission. Your expertise will help secure vital funding to sustain and expand our programs, directly impacting the lives of children in need.

Responsibilities:

Research Grants: Identify and evaluate grant opportunities aligned with the mission and goals of Helping Hands for Humanity. Application Development: Prepare compelling grant applications and proposals, including drafting narratives, budgets, and required documentation. Grant Management: Oversee awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines, timely reporting, and effective utilization of funds. Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Directors and program leaders to align grant opportunities with organizational priorities and strategic initiatives. Database Management: Maintain records of grant applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

Ability to analyze funding opportunities and align them with organizational needs. Preferred experience in grant writing, research, or fundraising for non-profit organizations. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Helping Hands for Humanity supports Children's Education through charitable activities.

We need volunteers to help promote and support our cause: to eradicate poverty through education. 

Middle school and high school students are eligible to earn SSL hours by creating social media content. 

SSL Hours: Each content created for a single social media content approved by hhhumanity.org is eligible for an award of One and a half (1.5) SSL hours upon review and approval by hhhumanity.org. Please follow the instructions below for specific requirements on the content. These requirements must be met for the content to be approved.

Instructions :

1. Apply for the  Volunteer position by responding to a volunteer opportunity at MC Volunteer Center. Upon your selection, you will be assigned an Activity for Volunteering.

3. Create the content with the following guidelines:

            a. Name the Tile for the Social Media Post

            b. Write the description for the posting. The description should include an introduction/context, message, and hashtags

            c. Create a collage of pictures, video reels, and links to media such as YouTube.

4. Submit the finalized content in a document for approval by emailing to volunteer@hhhumanity.org

5. Make changes as necessary based on the input provided by hhhumanity.org and resubmit the revised content.

6. If you are a student volunteer requesting SSL hours, an adult representative of hhhumanity.org will review the content, and the student will be awarded 1.5 hours for each approved piece of content created by the student.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 

·       Do I need to sign up?  Please apply for this position. 

·       Is there a limit on number of hours?  Students are limited to 4hrs per day outsdie of the school hours during the school year and 8hrs during holidays and breaks. Adults are limited to 8hrs per day

·       Is this approved for MCPS SSL hours? YES. 

·       Is this opportunity still open? YES, it is still an ongoing need.  

·       How will I receive my SSL hours?  Eligible and verified work by students will receive your SSL form via email once the service is completed, reviewed, and approved by hhhumanity.org.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is not responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home.

Volunteer Activities as Needs Analyst

1. Assess community needs through online research across the regions within the State of Maryland for different types of educational needs, such as School Supplies and Educational Support. Hhhumanity.org will assign the area of research and the minimum of ten (10) columns of data needed for each lead in the Excel template to record the research.

2. Creating a data repository by listing the needs of potential leads requiring educational assistance.

3. Create and record the document with contact information  and submitting to         volunteer@hhhumanity.org 

Please follow the instructions below for specific requirements. The lead must meet these requirements to be considered complete for approval.

Description

Volunteers will pack Weekend Smart Sack Bags Weekly for Children's Nutrition and Education.

The event will be held once a week for 2 hours at Cabin John Local Park Picnic Shelter. This is a recurring volunteer opportunity. We are looking for passionate volunteers who can commit to this program through the School Year ending in June 2025. The schedule for the weekly volunteering events will be published in December 2024. 

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian  and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly volunteer@hhhumanity.org with any questions and/or concerns.

Volunteer Activities as Outreach Specialist

1. Review the needs records and identify the targeted outreach for communications 

2. Review and prioritize the  outreach contacts

3. Initiate the contact, introduce the charity, follow up, and gather interest in availing school supplies as benefits to the students.

4. Document the communication and follow-up dates if any

5. Capture the summary of conversation

6. Present summary to the Board Committee
