Volunteer: Writing science question and answer storyboards for videotapingThere are several really awesome YouTube sites that provide amazing videos answering science questions and talking about the wonders of the world around us. Science is Elemental, in its work to bring science to students who might not go seek it out also wants to support their teachers, seeks to join them. We are embarking on an effort to provide fun cool videos, geared toward elementary school teachers and their students, about the science that is part of our every day world, and in our daily environments. If you can bring a joy for learning, a sense of humor to add a joke or two, and a willingness to write your own and critique other storyboards as we prep to make videos, this is an opportunity for you. Requirements are an interest in science, and plain English, high-clarity writing. Video experience a plus but not required. While this is a virtual opportunity, there may be times when you can join in the actual video filming, although it is not a requirement that you do so. Volunteer: Member, Board of DirectorsCompany Description As a 501 Science is Elemental's mission is to improve science education by fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the scientific process among all high school graduates, through starting or improving science education in the early grades. In particular, SIE seeks to bring hands-on, integrated workshops to students who do not yet show interest or aptitude in the sciences. In addition, SIE supports teachers, and seeks to introduce what scientists do to young children. Role Description This is a volunter role for a Board Member located in anywhere in the U.S.. The Board Member will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring the organization’s mission and goals are met efficiently. Responsibilities include attending regular board meetings, participating in fundraising activities, and assisting in policy formulation and oversight. The Board Member will also engage with various stakeholders to build and maintain relationships that support the organization's objectives. We are very interested in people with fundraising experience.
