We're looking for dedicated volunteers to help out around our Montgomery County Warehouse, which takes in thousand of pounds of donated food, clothing, toys, household goods, diapers and more each day. Volunteers will help with the following projects: organizing and displaying donations, helping to take inventory, cleaning and organizing our space, making grocery bags for home deliveries, helping to load and unload delivery vehicles and more! Age requirements: We accept volunteers aged 10 and older. Physical ability: While some of these tasks are physically strenuous, we have plenty of opportunities for folks that have physical limitations or other restrictions, and our warehouse is wheelchair accessible. How to prepare: Volunteers should arrive wearing closed-toed shoes and clothing they can move around in and get dirty. Please note that the heating in our warehouse is currently out of service, so please dress warmly, wearing layers and coats for your shift. Future Link students are first-generation to college, low income, ages 18-25 and are working towards a brighter future. Our students are resilient, insightful, and motivated, and though the barriers they face threaten derailment, mentors help students process complex issues, identify solutions, and develop and implement plans so that they may realize their fullest potential. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused even greater disadvantages to our already marginalized student population, which is why our students need additional support to help navigate challenges as they attend Montgomery College, a vocational training program, work full-time, or choose to re-access their education plan.

Students enter the Future Link program through a 15-week Self-Advocacy and Career Development Seminar, after which they are matched with a mentor.  

Mentors meet the student where they are, working with them on:

Mentors become the regular point of contact with the student and the Future Link staff. In addition, Future Link provides resources as needed to support the student and mentor. For instance, if the student needs to create a budget or a LinkedIn profile and that is not the mentor's strength, a different volunteer will work with the student in that area.

Mentors attend two training sessions and a one-on-one meeting with staff before meeting their mentee. Continuous support is provided once matched with a mentee. We request an initial one-year commitment with an option to continue beyond that time frame. Mentors must be 30+ years of age, live or work in Montgomery County, Maryland and have at least five years’ work experience in their career field.

To support all the students (ages 18-25) requesting help, we are seeking volunteers who could commit to 2-3 hours per week for a commitment of 3 months helping students in their efforts to obtain an internship or job.

The MCCPTA Central Summer Area Advocacy Meeting (SAAM) is on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 and the Area Vice President (AVP) & Cluster Coordinators (CCs) need your help to make it a success. In this role, the Board Member will support GHH’s mission of providing hygiene and feminine products to individuals, specifically women facing homelessness, offering dignity and care regardless of financial or living circumstances.

About Us
Grace Helping Hands is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity and supporting stability for women and children experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Through the distribution of hygiene and self-care kits, we serve communities across Maryland in partnership with local shelters and organizations.

This is a voluntary board position requiring approximately 4–6 hours per month.

·         Establish and support policies that guide GHH’s organizational goals and HR-related practices.

·         Help shape major initiatives and assess opportunities for growth, improvement, or transformation.

·         Monitor the effectiveness of GHH’s services to ensure they continue advancing the organization’s mission.

Everything you create will be used to help children escape into the world of "make believe" during Only Make Believe's interactive performances in hospitals, care-facilities, and schools dedicated to serving children with disabilities. No art degree required!

Join us as more than two hundred children and adult athletes supported by CSS show off their skills that they have been practicing all year!

We welcome you to volunteer with us at Georgetown Prep as we celebrate the hard work and dedication of the individuals we support. Cheer on our athletes and enjoy a day of friends, family and fun!

Volunteers are needed from 9am to 3pm to set up and assist with this event. Help make this an unforgettable day!

The National Foundation for Cancer Research is volunteering in the locker storage area at this year’s Citi Open, taking place between Saturday, July 25 - Sunday, August 2. The event is at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in DC and volunteers can park on-site at the venue.

Volunteers can sign up for single shifts or multiple shifts. We need volunteers at various times, depending on the day, starting as early as 8am and ending as late as 11pm.  Please see the schedule for exact times.

Volunteers will assist in distributing boxes of food, including fruit, vegetables and canned goods, to low-income senior citizens at AHC's Charter House, an affordable housing apartment building located in Silver Spring. Volunteers will bring food inside building to 2nd floor lobby using carts & elevators. Residents will pick up food boxes.

Volunteers should be friendly and reliable, able to work both independently and in a small group. Food boxes weigh between 20-40 pounds, so volunteers must be able to lift that amount onto tables & carts.

Imagine a child sleeping on the floor — now imagine being the reason that child gets their very own bed. At Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), we believe no child should go without a bed, yet far too many are.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: get kids off the floor and into beds of their own. We build and deliver complete twin-size bed sets — including a frame, mattress, sheets, pillow, and blanket — to children in need.

Event Description

Join us for a morning of purpose, teamwork, and heavy lifting! Together, we will be sorting, arranging, and optimizing our inventory—including lumber, hardware, mattresses, and bedding. A well-structured storage space directly impacts how quickly we can get kids off the floor and into beds of their own.

No experience necessary — just bring your energy, organizational eye, and helping hands. We’ll guide you every step of the way.

The UpCounty Hub provides fresh produce, shelf stable foods, hygiene items, and some social services for families in our community that are in need.

Volunteer duties include loading boxes into the cars or taking data.

Distribution days and times vary depending on the week.  Please sign up for the day and time that works best for you. Please arrive at 12:40pm to check in with distribution staff.

The PATESI Foundation is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable nutrition professional to serve as a volunteer presenter at our upcoming M.A.M.A. (Mindful Afterbirth Maternal Awareness) event. This special event supports pregnant women and new mothers by providing education, resources, and essential supplies to promote healthy postpartum recovery and maternal well-being.

The volunteer educator will lead a brief interactive session focused on postpartum and prenatal nutrition, sharing practical information that empowers mothers to nourish themselves during pregnancy and throughout the postpartum journey.

Responsibilities:

- Facilitate a 10–15 minute educational presentation on maternal nutrition.

- Discuss topics such as postpartum healing foods, hydration, breastfeeding nutrition, energy-boosting meals, and realistic healthy eating strategies for busy mothers.

Being able to work with emotionally disturbed children and provide patients and understanding through tutoring our children. Orientation and in-service training will be provided by volunteer services. Certain assignments may require education or training in subject area. We would like to have volunteers start in Sept and volunteer until the end of the school year.

·         Game day on-field supervisor of teams, players, buddies, adult volunteers, parents

·         Keep kids safe while they are playing; encourage team spirit and player satisfaction  

·         Help keep the playing field activities moving

·         Help players learn some basic baseball skills (running bases, throwing, catching, fielding, batting, team bonding)

·         Attend all Spring & Fall Season games

We need 2 coaches for Saturday and 2 coaches on Sunday.

Long Branch Library is seeking volunteer(s) to assist with our weekly English Conversation Club, held every Saturday from 10:30am to 12:00pm. We are looking for at least a 6-month commitment with this opportunity.

English Conversation Club is a casual and supportive program designed for adults who want to build confidence in their English speaking and listening skills. Volunteer(s) will work alongside another facilitator to help guide conversations, encourage participation, and create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for attendees.

The program takes place in a meeting room at Long Branch Library each Saturday on an ongoing basis.

All Montgomery County Public Library volunteers are required to complete a short volunteer registration form and sign a confidentiality agreement before they begin volunteering.

INFO SERVICES: Responsibilities include answering any questions attendees have, providing directions, explaining the programming schedule, handing out water, roaming the con as mobile information and promoting events.

MERCHANDISE BOOTH: Responsibilities include processing merchandise payments for attendees, packing/unpacking goods, keeping track of transactions, and promoting sales.

IT: Responsibilities include setting up any audio/visual equipment, managing equipment during events, and troubleshooting technical issues.

Students intending to earn SSL hours will be under the primary supervision of the Volunteer Director, and secondary supervision of the Department Heads. SSL Hours for Social Media Support
Middle and high school students are eligible to earn SSL hours by reviewing, finalizing, and creating content for our social media platforms, including TikTok ,Instagram and Facebook.

SSL Hour Equivalency:

-          Volunteers creating videos will receive SSL hours based on the actual amount of time spent producing the video, upon review and approval by Grace Helping Hands.

-          Volunteers reviewing videos will receive 1 SSL hour for every three (3) social media content pieces reviewed and finalized (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook posts), upon review and approval by Grace Helping Hands.

-          All submitted work must meet Grace Helping Hands content standards and receive approval before SSL hours are awarded.

By volunteering as our Website Manager, you will help Grace Helping Hands reach more donors, volunteers, and partners, ultimately expanding our ability to provide hygiene kits to women and children in need across Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George’s Counties, Baltimore County/City and Washington DC.

Are you ready for a leadership journey like no other? DC's Honeycomb Leadership Corps (HLC) is now accepting applications! This year-long program invites high school students AND their parents to step into leadership roles and volunteer side-by-side, making a lasting impact in their communities. As part of HLC, you’ll commit to a year of service with Honeycomb and play an active role in supporting our programs. Parents and teens volunteer monthly together, assisting Project Leaders in running all aspects of our programs in the field (just like a camp counselor or teacher's assistant!) You'll help with everything from setting up supplies to teaching activities to fellow volunteers and mentoring younger kids. Along the way, you’ll gain behind-the-scenes insight into Honeycomb programs while spending quality time as a family and building your leadership skills.

Bring a dose of comfort and fun to children who are hospitalized due to critical or chronic illness. Your family will make no-sew blankets, handmade board books, and activity worksheets to donate to Children’s National Hospital. Hospital stays can be stressful and overwhelming for children. By creating comfort items and fun activities, your work at this project helps take a child’s mind away from the pain and stress of staying in a hospital in order to make for a better recovery.

Roll up your sleeves! Join us at The Well at Oxon Run to help revive and maintain a community garden that provides fresh produce for the community to promote wellness and healthy living. Your family will learn how The Well builds community and supports wellness through food. Our tasks change seasonally, but often include planting, weeding, harvesting food, and other garden maintenance. Your work at this project helps support the garden’s harvest and maintain a welcoming place for the community.

Thank you for volunteering with the UpCounty Hub! 

The UpCounty Hub provides fresh produce, shelf stable foods, hygiene items, and some social services for the families that we serve in our community. 

Drivers are needed on Thursdays to deliver food packages to the doorstep of vulnerable Upcounty families, that are not able to drive to one of our weekly distribution sites. Drivers should be able to lift up to 25 lbs.  Addresses of clients will be provided upon arrival at the Hub on delivery day. You will be delivering food directly to clients. 

Please arrive at the UpCounty Hub between 10:45am-11:00am on Thursday and pull around to the right side of the building to the loading dock. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN HANDICAP SPOTS!  If possible please try to register for this shift by the Tuesday before so we can assign boxes to the correct number of cars.

Join our team as a Client Check-In and Data Entry Assistant to support families in need! We're looking for friendly, detail-oriented volunteers (BILINGUAL) comfortable using computers to help with check-ins, appointment scheduling, and logging services. Shifts are available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. Training is provided!

Your role will ensure smooth operations during our service hours and help families access essential resources efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Greet and check clients in using a spreadsheet

Accurately log diaper distribution details

Assist clients in scheduling future appointments via SignUpGenius

Enter client visit data into our secure database (Service Insights)

Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy at all times

Provide respectful and friendly service to clients

Ideal Qualifications:

Comfortable with computers, spreadsheets, and web-based tools

Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills

Willing to learn new systems (training on Service Insights provided)

Friendly, patient, and respectful when interacting with families

Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information properly

Time Commitment:

Join us for an morning of purpose, teamwork, and joy! Together, we’ll deliver pre-built bed parts and assemble them right in the homes of families in need. Once assembled, we’ll make each bed sleep-ready — fully dressed with all the bedding a child needs for a warm, restful night.

Help serve meals and snacks, then assist with clean-up while fostering a warm, social dining experience for clients during lunch and snack breaks. (Weekdays, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM)

Winter Growth offers both Adult Daycare and Assisted Living services. Our Daycare program operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, featuring engaging, stimulating activities tailored for our program participants and residents. All of our services are thoughtfully designed to support the unique needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities, including those living with various forms of dementia.

Life is a really, really, really big adventure as Pete the Cat and the Biddle family rock out in a fast-paced, globe-trotting musical based on the smash hit book series. When Jimmy Biddle is anxious about finishing second grade, Pete takes him to Paris in his VW bus and Jimmy connects with his inner artist.
Pete the Cat is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Corp.

All ushers must be 16 years of age in order to volunteer usher. NO EXCEPTIONS. Once you have registered for a date and time, you will receive a confirmation email from the MCVC website as well as from Imagination Stage. All volunteers will get credit for the hours worked, this includes arrival time to dismissal. If you are late arriving, you will receive credit for the time you arrived. You must sign in with the front desk upon arrival and sign out upon dismissal.  Your point of contact will be the Lead House Manager on duty or the Guest Experience Coordinator. These individuals will dismiss you. DO NOT LEAVE PRIOR TO DISMISSAL. If you need to leave early, inform the House Manager.

Attire for volunteers is all black, casual. No ripped jeans, no crocs, no flip flops. T-shirts with minimal logos are ok. You will receive one SSL form for each time you volunteer; for those that need SSL forms, please inform the House Manager during the pre show meeting.

Volunteer duties vary from loading boxes into the cars or taking data.

Distribution days and times vary depending on the week.  Please sign up for the day and time that works best for you. Please arrive at 12:15pm to check in with distribution staff.

We depend on each and every one of our volunteers! Each volunteer slot for each shift is needed to help us achieve our goal of distributing food to those in need.
