Opportunity Title: Donation Transportation Support
Opportunity Description: We are looking for volunteers to assist us with the transport over 200 snack bags from our DC office to the extended stay housing for recent migrant arrivals in Montgomery County.
A valid driver's license registered and insured in the driver’s name and access to a personal vehicle will be required of all volunteers for these opportunities.
Department/Individuals Assisting Ayuda’s Social Services Team
Responsible to: Our Volunteer Coordinator, Connor Paul, as well as our Supervising Case Manager, Maria Vethencourt (MD Office).
Responsibilities:
- Volunteer assisting will need to meet at our DC office at 10 AM to get to the facility at 11 AM
- Volunteer assisting will meet our MD Office Supervising Case Manager, Maria Vethencourt, upon arrival
- Volunteer will need to park, get out of their vehicle, and assist with bringing snack bags into the facility. HOWEVER, individual will not be directly distributing to immigrants living there.
- Volunteer will need to sign and return our confidentiality agreement and volunteer personnel manual to assist with this opportunity. No addresses will be provided until receipt of such.
Opportunity Requirements:
- Required:
- Valid driver’s license
- Access to a personal vehicle that is registered and insured
- Strong cross-cultural communication abilities
- Being a team player
- Positivity and enthusiasm for our work
- Preferred:
- Bilingual abilities with a preference for fluency in Spanish
- Ability to lift and carry bags up to 10 lbs.
Commitment:
- Assistance is needed on Thursday, March 10th from 10 AM - 12 PM. The transport will take no more than two hours.
- Volunteers participating will meet our Volunteer Coordinator at our DC office where the snack bags will be loaded up into vehicle before heading to the extended stay housing in Montgomery County.
Technology Needed: No technology is needed to assist with this opportunity other than a personal vehicle.
