Volunteer: Tasty Treats, Happy Hearts: Snack Bags for AHC Residents

Making snack bags is a great family and group volunteer opportunity. You will buy or collect the supplies and then decorate and assemble the bags.

AHC has three properties in Montgomery County. The on-site Resident Services teams organize a variety of fun and educational events. Snack bags help us fight food insecurity and encourage engagement.

Snack bags are paper lunch bags filled with a small water bottle and 3 small snack items (crackers, Goldfish, chips, cookies, etc). Decorating the bags is fun but optional.

Delivery options include Charter House, 1316 Fenwick Lane, Silver Spring, and Allium Place, 4024 Gannon Drive, Silver Spring.

We have some flexibility in delivery dates (no weekend options). If you're interested in the project and need a different delivery time, email us at volunteer@ahcinc.org

Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0844A4A728A6FA7-52906193-gift#/

Volunteer: Perfect for Groups - Support New Neighbors with a Welcome Basket

When families move into AHC's affordable housing communities, we like to give them Welcome Bags filled with essential household supplies to say "welcome home."

Volunteers will purchase items and assemble the bags. The bag can be a reusable grocery size bag, small laundry basket, or bucket. For purposes of hygiene and dignity, we ask that all items are new, unopened and unused. Please make sure items fit into the bags and limit your donations to the items listed below. We do not have the space or capacity to accept other items. Most volunteers find it useful and cost-effective to purchase items in bulk, as long as each final product has all the necessary items in it.  We have a one-click link to make purchasing easy. Email us at volunteer@ahcinc.org for more information. Thank you!

A complete bag includes:

Dish soap (1)Hand soap (1)Bleach (1)All purpose cleaner (1)Sponge (1)Plunger (1)Trash bags (1 box)Gloves (1 pair)Paper towels (1 roll)Toilet paper (2-4 rolls)Hand towel (1)Plastic shower curtains and hooks (1 set)Bucket or laundry basket to contain other items (1)Dustpan & mini broom (optional)

We are collecting welcome baskets for properties in Montgomery County and all across the DMV.

I want to help! What now? Please reach out to volunteer@ahcinc.org to express interest, coordinate delivery, or with any questions.
