Volunteer: Food Forest work party at Montgomery College

Join us at the Montgomery College Food Forest for one of our regular work parties, which take place on the first Saturday and third Wednesday of every month. Come and help transplant, sow, harvest, prune, mulch, weed, water and whatever else needs doing.

Where: Montgomery College Food Forest, 7719 Chicago Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, 20910 (intersection of Chicago and Philadelphia)

When: Third Wednesday of every month (September 17th, October 15th, November 19th)


What to bring: water bottle and gardening gloves if you have them (we have spare gloves and there’s a water fountain in a nearby building if you can’t bring a water bottle).

Transport: there is metered street parking on Chicago Avenue. There are also bus stops immediately adjacent to the food forest, on Philadelphia Avenue. Ride On Route 17 and Route F4 both stop at this location.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
