Reach’s Mansfield Kaseman Health Clinic (the “Clinic”) is seeking MD-licensed healthcare professionals to provide the following services on a pro bono basis: 

This is a perfect opportunity for healthcare professionals who are retired or otherwise stopped working in their professional capacities but still want to use their skills to help others. We prefer Clinic volunteers to commit to a regular schedule for at least 6 months, and for at least one 3–4-hour shift per week if possible. The ability to speak Spanish is desirable but not required for physicians; however, for other healthcare personnel, the ability to speak Spanish is now required.  

Reach’s LOP is seeking volunteers to help English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers with large classes as a virtual teacher's assistant. Assist individual students and student groups by leading activities, reviewing assignments, and more. Training is provided. Must be 18+ years old. Requires a background check. This is a virtual opportunity that may become an in-person opportunity during the fall semester. 

Reach’s LOP is seeking volunteers to help school-aged children with their homework and other educational activities and serve them snacks (under the direct supervision of a childcare staff person). Must be 14+ years old.  

NOTE: This opportunity is approved for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. 

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian  and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.

This opportunity is especially good for groups, and can also be served by one or two volunteers. Assist our elderly client keep their yards and gardens in good shape through the growing season and/or when the leaves fall. Choose to volunteer on one day, raking leaves or trimming plants, or make it ongoing from Spring through Autumn or beyond by cutting grass as needed, weeding and trimming, clearing snow or fallen branches after storms.

Reach's Housing Program is seeking volunteers to present workshops covering various topics (including but not limited to emergency preparedness, meditation, nutrition, and physical fitness) to small groups of men and/or women at Reach's Rockland and Jefferson Houses. Workshop content must be pre-approved by the program manager. Requires a background check. 

Reach is seeking volunteers to serve on committees, including our Development and  Governance standing committees as well as our Gala, Advocacy, and service-specific Advisory committees. Contribute your skills (such as event planning, fundraising, social media, relationship building, recruiting, legal, lived experience) to help us continue to build a collaborative community and assist underserved Montgomery County residents.

Meetings are primarily during the work week, held online,  and mostly in the evening. Standing committees meet monthly or less frequently; other committees meet for a number of months, monthly or more frequently, as needed. Committee work may also be a step toward board membership.               

Reach’s Senior Reach Program is currently seeking English and bilingual “Friendly Caller” volunteers, including Mandarin/English, Vietnamese/English, and English speakers to make weekly phone calls to one or more senior clients to provide a caring voice, to check on their well-being, and to confirm they received and are pleased with their scheduled home care services. Skills required include patience in speaking with senior citizens and the ability to complete and email reports to the program manager. Volunteers and senior clients choose the standard weekly day and time that phone calls will occur. 

We are also seeking "Friendly Visitor" volunteers who will visit senior clients monthly or bimonthly for conversation, activities, or other social interaction. A background check is required.   

Reach seeks a Microsoft Excel expert to help with various spreadsheet projects this fall. Projects may include compiling data sheets, creating program reports, and gathering information for database import. Must be 18+ years old. Work may be performed virtually or in person.

Community Reach of Montgomery County's Senior Reach Program seeks volunteers to assist seniors with using and/or troubleshooting technical issues with their mobile devices at Victory Court Senior Apartments in Rockville on Tuesdays from noon to 2:00 p.m. Proficiency in using various types of mobile devices and software is preferred. Experience working with seniors is also preferred.

Reach is seeking volunteers to evaluate its programs. Evaluators will provide an objective opinion on what is working well and what improvements can be made. The work requires interviews with program leads and others, at least one in-person visit, and the submission of a final written report. Volunteers should have an understanding of evaluations, the ability to do research to determine best practices, and good writing skills. Some experience in the area that is being evaluated is helpful but not necessary.
