Wings for Joy

Wings for Joy, Inc. (WINGS) was founded in 2001 by Tracy DuPree Davis to help Women and children In Need of Guidance and Support. WINGS started as a not-for-profit service organization and in 2013 became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Most of WINGS' activities serve the Helping Hands Shelter, Stepping Stones Shelter, Linkages to Learning Program and families in need in the eastern section of Montgomery County. All programs are run by a Board of Directors and Campaign Committees who are all volunteers. People from age 5 to 100 join to help dreams come true. Wings strives to help families develop their wings and soar by providing knowledge, information, necessities with kindness.

Wings for Joy runs 8 Annual Campaigns to provide items, food, and services to women and children in underserved communities. We focus on families living in local shelters and students in the Linkages for Learning Program. We start the school year with We've Got Your Back, a campaign to provide new school supplies and backpacks to students and books to children too young for school to help foster a love for reading and learning. In Oct-Nov. we hold a Harvest Campaign to fill the food pantries at local shelters in November and provide the Thanksgiving meal. In December, we hold Operation Santa to help Santa fill the wishes of women and children in local shelters. In January, we hold workshops Starting the Year With Dollars and Cents/Cents to help women learn how to manage their money--this program is repeated in the spring. In February we spread love for Valentines by providing dinner and treats with a Valentine's Day Party to families in local shelters. In the Spring we hold Women's Health and Wellness Fairs In the Summer we hold Family Fun Days for children in local shelters and Thanksgiving in July, a campaign to collect food for families in need for, for some, hunger is a daily issue.
