Who We Are

Our mission is to preserve and promote Brazilian education and cultural and social integration in the Brazilian community with the aim of strengthening its identity within the United States. Our vision is to be recognized as an organization that, through participation and involvement of parents, teachers and children, inspires the community to embrace its Brazilian identity and use this asset actively in their lives. Started in 2005, ABRACE was formally registered in 2009 and has been in operation in McLean since then, serving hundreds of families and children from MD, DC and VA.

What We Do

We develop educational and cultural activities that link Brazil and the United States in an effort to form strong communities that remain connected to their roots. Our children’s programming teaches the Portuguese language, the history and geography of Brazil, as well as Brazilian culture and customs. ABRACE also offers educational seminars for Brazilian families, book fairs, cultural fairs that highlight the various regions of Brazil, and conferences for Portuguese professors in partnership with local universities.
