Who We Are

The Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program (VASAP) provides information, referral, advocacy, crisis and ongoing counseling, support and compensation for victims of crime, including children and adults victimized by rape and sexual assault and to women or men who have been victims of childhood sexual abuse. Services include: 24-hour telephone and walk-in crisis counseling, information and referral; 24-hour crisis outreach counseling services for victims of sexual assault at hospitals and police stations; counseling by appointment; psychiatric evaluation, treatment and consultation; victim counseling and support groups; support groups for surviving family and friends of homicide and driving while intoxicated victims; victim assistance through the criminal justice system; assistance in applying to the Maryland Criminal Injuries Compensation Board; compensation for income eligible victims; anonymous third party reporting of rape and sexual assault; and education programs for schools, professionals and community groups. VASAP is part of Montgomery County's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
