Who We Are

As a part of the St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church educational program, the St. Andrew Kim Korean School's mission is to provide educational opportunities for the children of immigrants and second generation Korean-American parents in learning heritage language Korean during the weekend language school programs. The vision is to help young Korean-American children grow with a clear identification of their self-esteem through learning heritage language and culture and thereby help them grow as healthy American citizens in the mainstream American society.

What We Do

The Korean school (St. Andrew Kim Korean School) at St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church is operated by volunteer teachers on Saturdays (15-16 weeks/semester) from 9:30am-12:30pm. Currently, 130 students from pre-K to 11th grade are registered with 12 teachers. The students are taught: Korean, Korean culture and history. The academic programs consist of lectures and activities (music, art,  and other special classroom programs). The Korean language program is offered to young students interested in learning Korean. Young children are assisted by volunteers who help homeroom teachers.

We also offer adult class Korean language program for those interested in learning Korean language and Korean culture. The school hour is the same as regular classes (9:30-12:30, Saturdays). US citizens fluent in Korean can have many interesting and useful opportunities offered by Korean government in teaching English in Korean elementary schools and studying in graduate schools in Korea.

Volunteer activities include:

  • working with students in Korean
  • assisting teachers
  • checking students' work
  • keeping the classroom tidy and clean
