Who We Are
Green Acres is a coeducational, progressive school for grades pre-kindergarten through eight, dedicated to fostering the natural curiosity of students, engaging them actively in the joy of learning and facilitating problem solving. Based on an understanding of child development, Green Acres program is cognitively, physically and creatively challenging. Valuing acceptance of a variety of viewpoints, this community promotes socio-economic and cultural diversity. An environment of trust, cooperation and mutual respect encourages students to become increasingly independent thinkers and responsible contributors to an ever-changing, multicultural world.
What We Do
Student volunteers are partnered with our staff team to help foster a nurturing and fun camp environment. Volunteers work alongside a director to develop their professionalism in a work environment while also developing their skills in working with youth of varying ages.
Student Volunteers are placed to work with our campers in grades PreK through 3rd grade. Most of their day is spent with the campers, learning how to navigate conflicts with young children, improving their teaching skills, and providing a safe environment for campers to grow and play. Student volunteers meet weekly with our Volunteer Director to receive feedback on their performances and engage in professional learning exercises and opportunities.
