Who We Are

The Ethiopian Eritrean Special Needs Community is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting a supportive network of parents, educators, and professionals within the DMV community. Our mission is to offer support, education, and guidance to families nurturing children with special needs, empowering them to become strong advocates for their children's rights and needs.

What We Do

Volunteer Roles at EESNC
Event Support Volunteers – Help set up, welcome families, and assist during community workshops, trainings, or cultural events.

Family Mentors / Peer Support – Provide encouragement and guidance to parents and caregivers of children with autism and other disabilities.

Child Care Helpers – Supervise and engage children during parent workshops or meetings (with proper safety training).

Translators & Interpreters – Offer language support (Amharic, Tigrinya, English, etc.) to make trainings and resources accessible.

Administrative Support – Assist with data entry, phone calls, and organizing community resource materials.

Social Media & Outreach Volunteers – Help spread awareness by managing posts, creating flyers, and sharing EESNC’s mission online.

Fundraising Volunteers – Support donation drives, grant applications, and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.

Transportation Volunteers – Provide rides for families who have difficulty attending events or appointments.

Special Skills Volunteers – Share expertise in areas like art, music, wellness, or job readiness with youth and families.

Advocacy Volunteers – Help represent EESNC in community meetings, coalitions, or advocacy efforts for disability rights.
