Who We Are
We were founded in 2011 with the goal of advocacy for underserved communities; the subjects we focused on were domestic violence, civic engagement and education. In 2014, we embarked on a quest to have minor child to parent violence designated as a form of domestic violence. In 2017, the first legislation in the country surrounding this issue was passed by the state of Florida as a result of our efforts. We continue to work on issues that affect the most marginalized communities at the highest rates by facilitating future-focused thinking to drive conversations that foster collaborations and community to co-create equitable spaces and outcomes for everyone.
What We Do
Participants will participate in learning about policies, procedures, and practices that need to be examined as barriers for people seeking economic stability in the US. There will be also be learning on poverty in our country. Learning simulations and discussion will be part of the opportunities available for SSL hours, with opportunities to demonstrate further understanding by completing an activity attached to to the learning.
Discussions on advocacy by people of all age will be facilitated, along with exploring individual and community methods of advocating, with a take away of a personal call to action
