Who We Are

SIGN UP TO BE A TUTOR OR COLLEGE READINESS COACH WITH FLOC! JOIN US FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR. BEGINNING LATE SEPTEMBER, OUR PROGRAMS WILL RUN FOR  30 WEEKS WITH A HOLIDAY BREAK (MID-DECEMBER TO MID-JANUARY).

FLOC is seeking volunteers to work with students in grades 2nd-12th in our 1:1 tutoring program, small group 4:1 SAT prep program, and our 1:1 college coaching program. Volunteers are asked to commit 2 hours per week to the program of their choosing from September through May.

Once the application process is complete (application, background check, orientation) volunteers are trained and matched with a student(s) to begin the rewarding journey of helping to change the odds! Become an essential part of the FLOC Family and apply today to become a FLOC  Volunteer.

“Volunteering is an act of heroism on a grand scale. And it matters profoundly. It does more than help people beat the odds; it changes the odds.” – William J. Clinton 42nd US President

What We Do

For Love of Children (FLOC) provides educational services beyond the classroom to help students succeed from first grade through college and career. FLOC brings together students, volunteers, families, and community partners in proven programs that teach, empower, and transform. FLOC’s services are provided for free to students from low-income families in the District of Columbia. Our experience shows that when students are encouraged and prepared, they can overcome any challenges and complete their educations.
